About Erika Whetzel

I have 19 years of experience as a registered nurse. My experience includes ambulatory surgical services, concierge nursing, emergency department, Ventricular Assist Device and Heart Transplant Coordinator, cardiac critical care, and cardiac surgical nursing. I received my bachelor's degree of nursing and a certificate in healthcare management from Shenandoah University in 2006. My objective is to obtain a position as a registered nurse in a healthcare facility or other healthcare environment that will further my knowledge, education, and career in nursing. I have worked in concierge nursing for 3 years providing specialty care in multiple locations across the United States and internationally. I have 3 years of experience as an emergency department nurse. While working in the ED, I worked as charge nurse on night shift and would precept new employees and students. In 2012 while working in the emergency department, I received the Daisy Award and served as co-chair in the Chest Pain Committee earning Chest Pain Accreditation by the Society of Chest Pain Centers for Warren Memorial Hospital. I previously worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital as a Ventricular Assist Device and Heart Transplant Coordinator and as a critical care nurse. I received Cardiac Preceptor of the Year in 2009. I am an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and AORN. I am certified in CPR, ACLS, and PALS. I have also been trained in the ENA Trauma Nursing Core Course. I am a highly dedicated, caring, and hardworking registered nurse. I give 100% in every task I set out to accomplish.
