About Erin Barton

I am a PRINCE2 qualified and experienced Project Manager with a proven ability to deliver large programmes of work. I have 8 years experience in health policy with specific expertise and knowledge of the cancer and fertility sectors, and I have thrived in very different environments: government, NHS, charity sector and tech start-up. My greatest strength is undoubtedly in stakeholder management, and patient and public engagement. I have built strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including patients, healthcare professionals, scientists, government officials, MPs, academics, professional and regulatory bodies, charities, senior management and board members. Career highlights include- Project managing the HFEA's most high-profile policy project, to launch the first new edition of their Code of Practice since 2009, from initiation and planning to public consultation and parliamentary approval- Leading a hugely successful policy campaign for better treatment and care for people with secondary breast cancer, including co-producing a large patient survey and authoring the campaign report- Establishing a group of 'local patient champions' and producing a communications toolkit for Cancer Alliances, to promote the NHS Cancer Quality of Life Survey- Setting up Kheiron's first Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Advisory Board, and co-producing a PPI Strategy to increase patient acceptability of artificial intelligence in breast cancer screening.
