About Erin Blazer

I am a clinical mental health counseling student pursuing my master's degree at Carson-Newman University. I have bachelor degrees in Clinical Psychology and in Sociology from East Tennessee State University. Currently, I am completing an internship at Village Behavioral Health where I work with adolescents in a residential setting. At this placement, I work with teens on issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behaviors, and more. I have previous experience working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders and at-risk adolescents through being an Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) Lesson Intern at Small Miracles Therapeutic Equestrian Center. I additionally have research experience with a focus on substance use disorders, first responder wellbeing, and the effects of the opioid epidemic. From my counseling training thus far, I have a strong interest in utilizing techniques from Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory to create a holistic and integrative approach with future clients.
