About Erin Brefka

Video and digital media have become the most powerful and influential forms of storytelling in our world today. The way those stories are brought to us is constantly changing, but at the end of the day, films, TV shows, and even the daily news should tell us captivating stories that get us talking. Film and Television tap into our emotions, inspiring and informing us.That is why I have chosen this field. Regardless of my title, I consider myself a storyteller above all else. I seek to find or create stories to impact and inspire people to improve themselves, their community, and the world.I have various interests and skills in working in digital media.I am experienced with various camera systems, including DSLR, Sony XDCAM, GoPro, DJI OSMO, DJI MAVIC PRO, and more. I am also familiar with various lighting techniques, from studio halogen and LED to outdoor lighting with scrims, silks, and flags. I have also learned to use editing software, including Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro (7 and X), and EDIUS.While in college, I participated in Grand Valley Television, GVSU's only student ran television station. I worked on several shows in various departments and was later voted into the organization's Executive Board as the Financial Manager and later Human Resource Manager.Outside of film and video, one of my biggest passions is writing. I write short stories, video scripts, stage scripts, and much more. I have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America since I was in fifth grade and am a proud Eagle Scout. Because of this, I am a huge outdoorsman, and I love engaging in outdoor activities and working outside as much as possible.Other hobbies include creative writing/journaling, playing guitar, and watching films.
