About Erin Burns

My classroom is warm, inviting, safe, and set up efficiently so that all materials are easily accessible. It is a place in which my students feel safe to share their ideas and opinions freely and without judgement. From the first day of school my students are ingrained with the knowledge that learning is meaningful and essential. They know that working hard and doing their best is a top priority. I always encourage a positive mindset in all aspects. For example, mistakes are not a failure because they provide crucial opportunities to learn and grow. I have taught in all elementary grade levels in various schools and subjects. My main goal in my role as an educator is to design engaging activities that motivate students to explore academic concepts. I have achieved this through incorporating many technology-based activities. I am an expert in numerous technologic programs such as Desmos, Padlet, Nearpod, Problem-Attic, Edpuzzle, and countless others. I design lessons that are extremely engaging and stimulate high-level cognitive activity including high-quality questioning and prompting to stimulate great intellectual and social-emotional growth. My lessons also include a variety of follow-up activities for all interests and learning styles. I teach firm routines and organization in my classroom to maximize learning time and student achievement. Since becoming an educator, I am committed to creating a welcoming classroom environment, one in which students will feel eager to return to, comfortable to be himself or herself, and will demonstrate great academic and social-emotional growth. I am dedicated to getting students excited about learning and inspiring students to be the best they can possibly be.
