About Erin Damon

I am a museum professional with over twenty-five years of experience in collections management, exhibitions, and conservation. Currently serving as Head of Registration and Collections at the Portland Museum of Art, I provide strategic leadership for collections care, policy development, and long-term planning, while supporting a talented team of registrars, preparators, and exhibition staff.Throughout my career at the PMA, I have overseen acquisitions, loans, and exhibition programs of all scales, from international touring shows to permanent collection stewardship. My work is driven by a commitment to preserving cultural heritage, enhancing access to collections, and ensuring the highest standards of care for artworks.I thrive on collaboration across departments and institutions, building systems that balance innovation with responsibility. I am especially interested in advancing museum practices that connect communities with collections in meaningful and sustainable ways and an advocate committed to sustainability and reducing carbon impact using environmentally responsible climate conditions.
