Background
About Erin Dunn
I am a social and psychiatric epidemiologist with expertise in genetics and epigenetics. I lead an interdisciplinary research team at Purdue University working to identify social and biological factors and disease mechanisms influencing risk for depression and other brain health outcomes across the life course. My team has studied the role of childhood adversity and trauma, sensitive periods in development, and novel biomarkers (polygenic risk scores, DNA methylation, deciduous teeth). I have received over $10M in total direct funding for my research. I have published over 100 publications in top-tier journals in my field (Lancet Psychiatry; Biological Psychiatry; JAACAP), received several awards for my work (One Mind Rising Star; NIH BRAINS; Donald F. Klein Early Career Investigator Award) and supervised over 75 students and trainees. My research has appeared in numerous media outlets (Vox; Boston Globe; Discover Magazine). I am proud to be a first-generation college student.
