About Erin Karsten

Passion….in my opinion is key to successful leadership. Passionate individuals inspire and motivate those around them…and after 20+ years in the corporate real estate world I am enjoying an early retirement after literally selling the family farm. This has given a chance to explore pathways of my early passion in legal issues and politics, following an outstanding career focused on property, people and operational excellence which I have used to help inspire and lead those in my team and around me. If I do, I'll jump back into something, it will be with both feet capitalising on the experience of my corporate career in contracts, diversity and inclusion and employment laws as well as finding a way to leverage my passion for the environment and sustainability issues! I have been blessed throughout my career to work with some exceptional individuals who embody true leadership and understand that people and relationships are what drive organisational success. Happy People = Productive People = Profits. It is a simple equation. Now I'll look to apply that equation with a legal lens! My career has brought me fantastic experience and perspective living in 4 countries on 3 continents and working across diverse and multi-cultural teams on nearly every continent. Working in fields that have been primarily male dominated means that diversity and inclusion is a topic at the forefront of my passion and have spent many years mentoring and supporting other women in various industries. It also means, leading large global teams, as well as local teams, I have seen the good side and the dark side of employment matters particularly where discrimination and harrassment are concerned as well as witnessing just plain old bad behaviour and toxic cultures. In my future work, I'm still optimistic and idealistic enough to hope I can be a force for change for the better. I have been fortunate to have had so many broad experiences, including the opportunity to help create new businesses and P & Ls, negotiate terms for large global real estate contracts, grow existing accounts, drive change and have consistently delivered great results through my leadership, resilience, adaptability, drive, determination, integrity and commitment. I loved the work I've done and am proud of what I've achieved!
