I always get excited, sometimes a little emotional, when the I-485 approval notices, as shown in my header image, arrive. It is truly incredible to be part of the immigration process. With full appreciation of the investment of time and the financial commitment required for my beneficiaries, and all immigrants, to obtain permanent resident status, it makes these approvals life changing for us all! Rather incredibly, I didn’t actually start out with the goal to break into this field that I now LOVE. A chance meeting in an elevator turned out to be career changing kismet. Prior to that pivotal day, I had successfully transitioned from an accomplished and long career, including promotions to Director level roles with Job Corps, and then to a contracted federal background investigator before landing in my current global mobility role in higher education.
