About Erin Regis Bailey

I am a Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology with seventeen years of clinical experience in diverse adult medical settings, who transitioned to higher education faculty in 2019. I am currently the Clinical Education Coordinator and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Concordia University located in Mequon, WI. As the Clinical Education Coordinator, I manage all aspects of our part-time and full-time graduate student off-campus clinical placements in medical and school-based settings. This a complex, multifaceted roll that suits my values and strengths personally and professionally, as well as highlights my strong organization, problem solving, leadership, collaborative and interpersonal communication skills. As an Assistant Professor, I have taught classes in my areas of expertise: acquired neurogenic communication disorders in adults, clinical education and supervision, and neuroanatomy and physiology. I have also provided clinical instruction for the adult neurogenic clinic within the Concordia University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic. In 2020, I began the Doctor of Speech-Language Pathology at Northwestern University. My coursework in leadership, organizational behavior, education and supervision, policy in health and education, advanced scientific decision making, operations and process improvement, and professional integration has enhanced and supported my clinical and academic work at Concordia. Throughout my program I consistently centered my course assignments around clinical education and supervision, with my culminating project being a hermeneutic phenomenological, exploratory qualitative study design seeking to examine medical SLP clinical educator experiences with and motivations for the choice to provide clinical education to SLP graduate students. I am passionate about clinical education research, recruiting and supporting off-campus clinical instructors for Speech-Language Pathology graduate students, the clinical, academic and professional development of future Speech-Language Pathologists and leading change in the Speech-Language Pathology clinical education landscape.
