ERIN RIVERS, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST Since completing a Master’s in Occupational Therapy (OT) in 2015, I have worked as a community-based and neurology/amputee specialty clinic-based occupational therapist in Ottawa. I work with my patients to improve their rehabilitation and functional outcomes. I work independently and as part of interdisciplinary health care teams. My patients include individuals living with musculoskeletal injury, mental health conditions, neurological and metabolic conditions, chronic pain, brain injury, and spinal cord injury. I have experience performing assessments and treatment in: global function for normal life activities, hospital discharge planning, and assistive equipment, personal care, safety, home accessibility modification, housekeeping, and home maintenance needs; ergonomics, work and school performance, functional mobility, seating, and accessibility; and cognition and mental health. Prior to my OT work, I completed OT clinical placements in hospital-based stroke rehabilitation, hand therapy, and school and hospital-based pediatrics in Canada and abroad. I have also worked in health promotion and have certification and experience as an exercise physiologist and coach.
