About Erin Sundermann

As a postdoctoral research fellow with the Einstein Aging Study (EAS), I investigate biomarkers and risk factors for cognitive aging and dementia using of multiple experimental techniques including neurocognitive testing, genetic analyses, and neuroimaging. During my time with the EAS, my research has taken on a more specific focus of examining sex differences in the risk factors for dementia and in the trajectory of cognitive decline in AD. This is an important investigation due to sex disparities in the rates of mild cognitive impairment, AD and AD-associated clinical outcomes such as depression and education level. My research is clinically impactful because, if replicated, it supports the clinical implementation of sex-based norms on verbal memory tasks used for diagnostic purposes.
