About Ermanno Bortolotti

I am a structural engineering intern with over 5 years of industry work experience in the design and construction of residential and commercial buildings. I have provided structural engineering services to over 100 projects in the Ottawa area from the structural designs of wood, steel, concrete, and masonry structures; to field engineering, where I successfully implemented engineering designs and led the determination of general conformance. As society shifts towards a more sustainable future, I find myself becoming passionate for the design of hybrid timber and steel structures. In particular, my interests include the design and analysis of hybrid frames under cyclic lateral loading, hollow structural steel truss systems, and building energy performance. My professional endeavors include working towards my Professional Engineering license, pursuing a Master's of Applied Science degree, immersing myself within the engineering community, enhancing my understanding of structural engineering and design, sustainable building design, as well as project management. I am always open to new opportunities and tackling problems head-on.
