About Ernest Aleixandre

As the Director of Information Technology for Aspen View Public Schools, I am responsible for the secure, efficient, and value-driven delivery of IT services that support the organization's educational mission. As part of the senior executive team, I ensure that our technology strategy aligns with Aspen View's educational vision and operational goals. I lead a dedicated team of four technical staff and manage an annual IT budget of approximately $2 million. Together, we deliver enterprise IT services to over 3,500 users and manage more than 2,500 devices across a dozen geographically dispersed sites. Cybersecurity is a critical component of my role. I oversee the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies, incident response planning, and ongoing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s data and infrastructure. I also serve as Co-Chair of the provincial Joint Cybersecurity Committee for the Alberta Risk Managed Insurance Consortium (ARMIC) and Alberta Technology Leaders in Education (ATLE), collaborating on cybersecurity initiatives at a broader sector level. My ability to think strategically, find innovative solutions, and deliver results within limited staffing and budget constraints has been key to my success. With diverse experience, formal training, and an ITIL Foundation 2011 certification, I continue to grow as a well-rounded IT and cybersecurity leader. During my time at SaskTel, I applied my background in computer engineering, electronics, and programming to design and develop innovative solutions that bridged the gap between traditional telephony and IT systems. Key accomplishments include: Developing an application to automate the tracking of field employees working on telecommunications equipment across the province, improving operational visibility and efficiency. Leading the development of a cost-effective system to store telephone switch operational measurements in a relational database where a commercial third-party system (valued at over $1M) had failed. This project was completed on a budget of under demonstrating both technical expertise and fiscal responsibility. Technology has been my passion since my early teens. At age 14, I was introduced to my first computer system, a Commodore 64 and from that point on my career path was clear. Over the years I have built a wealth of knowledge over a diverse range of areas including: computer hardware, network design, server infrastructure (Windows and Novell), software development in a multitude of languages, IT governance and cybersecurity.
