About Ernest Lang

My career stems from a promise I made to my father when I was 10 — a few days before he died. The Promerita founder's letter reflects my approach to business & life. I enjoy learning, business, connecting with people & appreciate opportunities to help people make better strategic, business & capital investment decisions. Throughout my career, feedback from clients, peers, partners & other stakeholders, is that my contributions in many areas of business, including identifying outsized investment opportunity, an intuitive sense of finance, ability to develop creative, win-win solutions, & the ability to identify & attract the combination of human talent needed to form high performance teams, are particularly valued. I truly believe that improved risk-adjusted financial returns & better business outcomes are achieved by focusing on the people side of the equation. Through experience, I have learned that the best results are usually achieved by collaborative teams of people who have an abundance of the 'i's: Integrity, Intelligence & Intensity; operating with the right business Insight, who feel highly Invested to realize the vision of a big Idea. I welcome opportunities to invest in, partner with & learn from individuals & groups that possess an abundance of the characteristics & values that align with who I am & what I believe. At its core, effective collaboration requires trust, relationship & being open-minded to a diversity of people & ideas in order to triangulate to the best decisions that increase the likelihood of attaining the best outcomes. Hence, politically, I tend to support specific policies & people more so than parties. I believe that people & organizations that adopt an entrepreneurial & businesslike approach to achieving their objectives maximize their likelihood of success. I also believe that leaders have a fundamental responsibility to expand the scope of their organizational purpose from just short run financial profits & business objectives to include the long term well being of the individuals they lead & the society in which they operate. Ultimately, I believe that we all have a responsibility to care for each other, serve our community & be good stewards of the world that we all share.
