About Ernst Olsen

Coordinator for Mission Cities Stavanger, will coordinate Stavanger's work in preparing the climate city contract together with 112 European cities. After completing my Civil Engineering Education in 1992, I worked as a researcher in the field of indoor environment for six years before joining Stavanger Municipality in 1998. I have been the head of several departments and various projects related to property management and energy management. In my work for the municipality, I have been project manager for building projects, procurement of a new administration system and led innovative development projects. After an outbreak of legionella from one of the municipality's swimming pools, I was the initiator and responsible for gaining new knowledge about legionella - types, virulence, and risk in municipal swimming facilities. Stavanger engaged in legionella research for a 10-year period (2008-2018). In the period 2014-2020, I was project manager for a new energy plant, the city’s delivery in the Triangulum lighthouse project, one of the first EU lighthouse Smart Cities and Communities projects within Horizon 2020.
