Background

About Ernst van Wijk

With over eight years of work experience in mechanical engineering, I am passionate about designing, analyzing, and improving complex systems and processes. As a Mechanical Engineer at Rio Tinto, I applied my skills in preventive maintenance, management of change (MOC), and component design o ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the metal smelting operations. I also collaborate with other engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, I worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Toronto, where I conducted cutting-edge research on fluid instabilities of turbulent viscoelastic sudden-contraction flows, and as a Junior Research Associate at Memorial University, where I designed and analyzed a forced-convection hydronic heating system. My core competencies include problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication. I am always eager to learn new things and challenge myself in the field of mechanical engineering. My goal is to contribute to the innovation and sustainability through engineering.
