About Errol Nelson
I am a museum professional and art historian currently serving as the Student Engagement Manager at the Harn Museum of Art in Gainesville, FL where I coordinate adult museum programming that fosters artist, student, and community collaborations. I have degrees in history from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in art history from Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition to my professional roles, I am a scholar and change-maker with a keen interest in the art histories of the United States during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Geographical research focuses on material culture and visual arts of the Southern United States, particularly those objects made by self-liberated and enslaved persons. Currently, I am in the process of preparing a manuscript about Afrofuturism and the Haitian-born contemporary artist Fabiola Jean-Louis.
