Background
About Erwan Koch
Torrential rains, heatwaves, droughts. In recent decades, some extreme weather events have become more frequent and intense. The good news? We have the tools to predict these events, assess the associated risks, and protect populations. At the Expertise Center for Climate Extremes (ECCE) of the University of Lausanne, our mission is clear: to offer practical solutions to climate change. Our experts, who come from various fields such as meteorology, climatology, statistics, risk management and finance, work in close collaboration with other academic and societal players. Our aim is to produce useful and accurate research. As Director of the ECCE, I am convinced that this unique approach is essential to guide measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change. We are working on it!
