About Erwin Luimes

I have been working at Universal Electronics over 26 years, enthusiastically serving customers in more than 35 countries worldwide. Through all these years I have gained a rich international work environment experience in a dynamic and innovative business. Since January 2007 I work as Project / Program Manager leading remote control developments from basic IR remote controls to advanced remote control developments with RF technology, voice recognition, automated code set-up, OTA and other high end remote features for the home entertainment environment. Being results-oriented and a team player with an eye for the human aspect I am working with and leading global cross-functional project teams within Universal Electronics. With team members throughout Europe (Engineering, Field Application Engineers, Operations, Purchasing, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Sales), China (factories), India (Software Engineering) and the USA (headquarters in California, Embedded Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical / RF Engineering and Mechanical Engineering). I work with customers and suppliers worldwide, such as broadcasters, Set-Top-Box manufacturers, middleware/UI developers, integrators and industrial designers. As Program Manager I am involved from bid management and after business award the project execution from translating the (customer) requirements and expectations into a project plan for developing and producing the required product, including hardware and software system integration of the remote control with the target/host side (Set-Top-Box) up to including completion and shipment of the first mass production volume. As PM I am accountable for planning, budget, cost control and quality of the deliverables throughout the development. For my projects I have frequently travelled to international customers, Universal Electronics’ China factories and suppliers and to the Universal Electronics headquarters in the Los Angeles area in the USA.
