Background

About Esi Hardy

I identify as a disabled person, not a person with a disability. That distinction matters. Disability represents the oppression we face in a society that isn’t built for us. If we don’t acknowledge the barriers, we won’t understand the urgent need to remove them. As a disability inclusion trainer and consultant, I work with professionals across sectors to build workplaces where disabled people can thrive, not despite, but because of who we are. With over 40 years of lived experience and over 20 years of professional experience, I’ve supported various organisations through Celebrating Disability to create meaningful and lasting change. I’ve worked with over 30 businesses and institutions through tailored training and consultancy to embed disability inclusion into their culture and practice. Recent examples include: Designing and delivering a four-month training programme with Historic England. Creating bespoke e-learning packages and organisation-wide training and talks for Nationwide. Enabling Homes for Students to increase disability disclosure by 91% in just 18 months. Strategies are the foundation. But true inclusion lives in the day-to-day nuances of human experience—and that’s where my work makes a difference. While my main focus is workplace inclusion, I also support organisations to develop: ‍🦼‍ Inclusive customer service models. ‍🦼‍ Collaborative and co-produced approaches with disabled people. ‍🦼‍ Strategic disability action plans across business operations. “We were so pleased with the sessions Celebrating Disability delivered. Esi’s approach was open, insightful, and gave our team the confidence to make change.” – Historic England Ready to start meaningful change?
