About Eskindir Loha

Eskindir Loha holds a Ph.D. from the University of Bergen (Norway) with a thesis on malaria transmission in southern Ethiopia. He earned a European Master of Science in International Health from universities in Denmark, the UK, and Norway, focusing on health research methods. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Jimma University (Ethiopia). With a diverse educational background, including international health courses and certificates, he has been actively involved in academia and research. Currently serving as a researcher at the University of Bergen, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bergen and Chr. Michelsen Institute (Norway). He evaluated the impact of result-based financing on maternal, neonatal, and child health services in Tanzania. He contributes to teaching and coordination of epidemiology courses at the University of Bergen. His extensive academic experience spans institutions in Ethiopia (Jimma and Hawassa Universities), the UK (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), and Norway (University of Bergen), where he held various positions, including associate professor. He has supervised Ph.D. students and has secured significant research grants, focusing on public health issues and improving institutions´ capacity of post-graduate education. Besides his academic roles, he has provided statistical and epidemiological support to health-related projects, collaborating with organizations in Ethiopia and internationally.
