About Esmeralda Tijhoff

Hi, welcome to my profile. I am a passionate Product Owner who keeps one eye on the persons and one eye on the deliverables. I am a strong advocate for the use of open source within the government. I mainly work with the open source Drupal CMS, and I have experience as a front-end Drupal developer. I am an active participant within the Drupal community. I am a board member for the Stichting Drupal Nederland and the Event Organizers Working Group (EOWG) of Drupal. I took the initiative for the Network of European Drupal Associations (NEDA) As a Product Owner and former developer, I am well acquainted with agile methodology. At the moment, I am the PO of a scrumteam at DICTU. We build and manage strong applications for the Dutch government using Drupal. To strengthen our services, I have initiated several projects and work closely with my colleagues to achieve our shared vision for a transparant government. This includes writing business cases and projects, managing workgroups, organizing events, writing and editing promotional materials and articles, and of course collaborating with other governmental departments and stakeholders. I am a board member for the Womens Network at DICTU. I have been active for initiatives about diveristy and emancipation since 2001, setting up demonstrations, events, and womens shelters in the Netherlands and international. I am a passioned speaker about inclusivity and diversity on the workforce and specifically in IT. I am a trained Code of Conduct contact for events. My background is in Modern History, Academic Writing and Science Journalism. I have several years of experience as an editor for multiple magazines. I am a proud contributor for The Drop Times. I help cover Drupal events and provide newsupdates about Drupal initiatives. At the DICTU Web & App Services, I am part of the Communication Ambassadors. As such I write articles, blogs, interviews and columns and I edit other peoples stories. I have also set up a new way for onboarding colleagues, and manage the Drupal educational curriculum.
