About Estelle de Bruyn
My ambition is to contribute to the overall effort to make our society more sustainable, fair and inclusive. As Head of the Sustainability Unit of KIK-IRPA, I focus with my team on the implementation of sustainability in heritage work. I was the former leader of the NEMO working group Sustainability and Climate Action (2023-2024). I oversee research projects based on an interdisciplinary approach, in collaboration with (inter)national partners. CV summary: Working at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) since 2018, I gained practical experience in preventive conservation through internships at ICCROM (Rome), and at the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI, Ottawa). I took part in the RE-ORG International initiative (ICCROM & CCI). I developed a great interest in storage reorganization, environmental sustainability, and tools and methodologies for professionals who work in small-scale institutions. My master's thesis explored sustainable storage solutions and how they can be implemented with limited resources (ENSAV La Cambre, MA in conservation of artworks).
