Background
About Ester Ramos
Ester Ramos (b. 1984, Barcelona) is currently the Head of Touring Exhibitions of the Fundació Joan Miró – CEAC in Barcelona. Since 2012, she has worked as a curator at the Collections Department of the Fundació, where she has assisted in exhibitions preparation and managed the development of exhibitions on loan. She also combined her curatorial duties with the analysis of Miró’s graphic works and lithographs to be evaluated for authentication as well as answers enquiries from art experts and PhD students in relation to Miró’s work. She has recently curated both touring projects – such as Universo Miró which travelled to several Spanish Ambassador’s residences in Europe – and temporary exhibitions like Miró-Gaudí-Gomis, an intervention within the permanent collection of the Fundació and a touring exhibition. Most recently, together with the Collections Department, she curated and coordinated “Joan Miró. The Poetry of Everyday Life” exhibition, which has travelled to the Hong Kong Museum of Art. She has a BA in Art History from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), an MA in Curatorial and Cultural Training in Art and New Media from the Escola Superior de Disseny (ESDI) – Universitat Ramon Llull (URL), Barcelona, and a Certification in Design and Production of Exhibition Spaces from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), Barcelona. In 2010, she was awarded the Culturex grant from the Spanish Ministry of Culture to work at Tate Modern, London, in the Curatorial Department. Previously, she worked for the non-profit arts organisation The Field, New York, and contemporary art fairs (SWAB) and festivals (International Video and Digital Arts Festival, VAD) in Spain. She is a member of the ICOM (International Council of Museums).
