About Estevao Lima

Estevao Lima has 53 years old, married and father of 3 children. Assistant Professor with Habilitation of Urology and Physiology at the School of Medicine - University of Minho, Braga – Portugal and Coordinator of Urology in CUF Hospitals, Portugal. He completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal in 1993 and the urology residency at the “Hospital Geral de Santo António”, Porto, in 2002. In the same year, he became a “Fellow of the European Board of Urology” (FEBU)(best European score). Subsequently, from 2002 to 2010 he was Assistant of the Urology at the “Hospital Geral de Santo António” Porto and responsible for the endourology and laparoscopy. Between 2010 and 2020, Estevao Lima was the Director of the Department of Urology - Hospital de Braga. Since 2016, he is the Coordinator of Urology in CUF Hospitals, Portugal. Estevao Lima is a pioneer and an innovator, with international recognition in the application of minimally invasive surgical techniques and new technologies in the field of urology and surgery such as Natural Orifice Endoscopic Transluminal Surgery, Endoscopy and Laparoscopy. Recently, he also has pioneered techniques in percutaneous kidney accesses, surgical navigation and ureteral stenting. He has an enormous surgical curriculum and extensive experience mainly in laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, laparoscopic radical cystectomy, endoscopic treatments of the benign prostatic hyperplasia and kidney stones treatment by percutaneous and endoscopic methods. Professor Estevao Lima is Researcher and Professor at the Institute for research in life sciences and health (ICVS) of the University of Minho. He obtained his PhD in 2008 with the thesis “Development of Transvesical Port for Scarless surgery”. In 2022, he unanimously obtained the "Habilitation" in the field of knowledge in Medicine at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho. His intense scientific activity is well documented. In the "Scopus" has 116 documents referenced with 2535 citations, 14 book chapters, 9 of them with international Edition and h index of 28. He has received 16 research awards, many of them international. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies and reviewer of several international journals. Estevao Lima has 8 patents. He participated in projects to obtain funds and grants for research at the University of Minho in more than EUROS. He is a founding partner of "HydrUmedical Company”.
