About Esther Blanchette

I am a passionate and dedicated Special Education specialist with over 30 years of experience working with students of diverse abilities. I have participated in every step of the process - from gathering initial data on a student who may be struggling, through the evaluation, and into the instruction. My goal for instruction is to create supportive learning environments where every student feels heard, valued, and encouraged to reach their potential. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with students ranging from early childhood to high school, with various educational disabilities, including students with an autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, and other exceptionalities. I have extensive practice in conducting formal, standardized evaluations, interpreting and explaining evaluation results, developing individualized education plans (IEPs) that are based on data and tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, and developing instruction with an end goal of ensuring that my students not only meet but exceed their educational goals. I take a data-based approach, conducting formative assessments and focusing instruction on the individual capabilities of each student while providing the right interventions and accommodations to help each succeed. I work closely with teachers, parents, and support staff to create a support system that maximizes my students' successes both inside and outside of the classroom. Whether implementing behavior intervention plans, adapting curriculum materials, or providing one-on-one support, I am committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
