About Esther Maas

I am an epidemiologist and PhD in Health Sciences, specialized in Health Technology Assessment. I obtained a Bachelor and Master degree in Health Sciences from the Maastricht University, and a Master degree in Epidemiology and PhD in Health Sciences from the VU University, the Netherlands. The main topic of my dissertation was to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of radiofrequency denervation for patients with chronic low back pain. I worked as a postdoctoral researcher for the Partnership for Work, Health, and Safety at the University of British Columbia. I was funded by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Fellowship. I'm currently at the VU university Amsterdam, working as an assistant professor for the department of Health Scienes, department Methodology and biostatistics. My experience in the field of health sciences, epidemiology and health technology assessment allowed me to develop a strong understanding of advanced statistics and research methodology.
