About Ethan Andrews

My name is Ethan Andrews and I'm in my Junior year as an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I am an honors student with a major in Biology and a minor in teaching. I've been a part of an academic research lab on campus called the Chain Lab for nearly two years. In that time, I have worked on the following projects: eDNA data visualization software, education research to promote bioinformatics in the high school setting, and alternative splicing in stickleback genomes. These formative research experiences have given me technical skills such as DNA extraction, RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and navigating data visualization genomics programs. Outside of research and classes, I work part-time, participate in clubs, and volunteer in student-led organizations on/off campus. In the near future, I plan on getting my Ph.D. in genetics in order to study the influences of climate change on genomes and how we can genetically engineer species as a means of conservation.
