About Ethan Castilloux

Hello, my name is Ethan Castilloux, originally hailing from the South Coast of British Columbia, where I divided my time between the Comox Valley and Vancouver. While my professional journey initially led me into carpentry and the hospitality industry, a profound shift occurred when I ventured to the Kootenays to attend Selkirk College. Here, I not only earned a Diploma in Recreation, Fisheries, and Wildlife (RFW) with Honors but also an Advanced Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, a pivotal moment that fused my love for the outdoors with cutting-edge technology. My career path has taken me on a remarkable journey since then. I had the privilege of working as a Conservation Technician for Ducks Unlimited Canada, contributing to the vital Fraser River Estuary Salmon Habitat project. Currently, I'm deeply engaged with two prominent organizations: the Okanagan Nation Alliance, where I serve as a Fisheries Technician in Castlegar, BC, working within the traditional territory of Iʔ TMXÚLAʔXʷTƏT, and concurrently with Selkirk College as a Geospatial Research Intern. In my role at the college, I explore groundbreaking applications of remote sensing and GIS technologies within the realm of fisheries, striving to merge my expertise with a profound passion for fish, wildlife, land management, and conservation.
