About Ethan Chan

Currently, I am a student attending Humber College studying in Sport Management with aspirations to work in the high-performance sector of basketball. As a person with an Upholder tendency, meeting inner expectations is important to me which is just as equal as outer expectations. Determined, relentless, self-preserved, motivated, reliable, and conscientious are a few descriptors at my core being. I began watching the NBA at a young age which first sprouted my interest in basketball. Throughout the years I have always had the urge to be involved in this sport in some way, shape, or form. This is what brought me to enroll in Humber’s Sport Management program, to become aware and learn the wide array of career pathways within the sports industry. Data analytics is a surging trend in the sports world today, but numbers do not paint a clear picture all the time and cannot understand intangible factors. This is where video analysis comes into play which can be combined with supportive data to provide better information. For me, this is where I feel I can contribute, utilizing my strengths and knowledge to grow and learn more behind the scenes work. As a non-athlete, my studies and work are efforts to contribute to an organization that makes an impact towards the success of that team. Wanting to be part of something that leaves behind a legacy, and join a journey with other like minded individuals to achieve the same goals & objectives. My goal is to work for a team as part of their operations, acting in a support role towards a winning team. I am seeking internships and any opportunities within data analytics or film analysis. These are two areas of interest that I’d like to learn and gain experience in, expanding my scope to new knowledge and skill development.
