About Ethan Espina

As a recent graduate (BSc and MSc) in medical sciences, I aspire to apply the medical and non-medical knowledge and skills I have gained in fields outside of the laboratory, particularly in diverse fields such as patent law specialising in life sciences. I opted to study Biomedical Sciences in my undergraduate degree and Molecular Medicine in my master’s degree because of my innate curiosity of solving unanswered questions and complex problems, the medical field also demands continuous development of knowledge, thus keeping me captivated. I achieved 1st Class Honours in my BSc and currently predicted distinction in my MSc. Perhaps the most valuable lesson I was taught was the importance of keeping updated in medical research which never stagnates, which results in society lagging and misinformation is crucial in healthcare. My master’s thesis is one of my most valuable experiences, as I was granted the opportunity to work alongside medical professionals in cutting-edge brain tumour research. During this time, I honed my skills in writing, critical thinking, data analysis and troubleshooting, time management, team working and many more. Throughout my education, I partook in many presentations and thesis defences, which improved my communication, presentation and public speaking abilities. I also understood the complexity of medical research, which motivates me to aid scientists and facilitate translational medicine into clinical development, I believe my skills will serve to benefit these fields well. Ultimately, I am, and always have been, enthusiastic about constantly learning something new. Thus, the prospect of expanding my professional repertoire in both medical and non-medical fields motivates me and I look forward in connecting with those interested in my assets.
