About Ethan Helsel

Hi, my name is Ethan Helsel. I am a senior at Grand Valley State University and I am an Information Systems major with a Business Minor enrolled in the Frederick Myers Honors College. During my first year as a Grand Valley student, I gained coding experience in Python and Java. Moving into my second year, I learned to code in Visual Basic, HTML, CSS, and a bit of SQL. Throughout my years in high school, I gained leadership experience as a captain of my robotics team and as the leader of the trumpet section in our band. In my robotics experience, I learned a lot technically but I also had many opportunities to teach people and guide discussions with younger members. This Summer I had the opportunity to work at Owens Corning World Headquarters as a Global Information Systems Intern. There I was able to learn how to use various new technologies while also working with the company's database. This first internship opened my eyes to a whole new avenue of skills and experiences that I still had to gain. I am now more eager than ever to learn new things and seek new experiences.
