As a Director of Quality and Process Improvement, I led the process improvement activities for all departments at Cascade Medical, a critical access hospital in Central Washington, applying Lean principles and methodologies to remove waste and add value to hospital operations. I also directed the quality activities of the hospital, including the determination of quality measures, development of relationships between quality sub-committees and service lines, creation and updating of policies, and coordination of process improvement activities with quality outcomes. I have over 20 years of experience in coaching large groups of people to achieve strategic goals and targets in both the healthcare and grocery retail industries. I have a particular interest in the Kata improvement method and find it to be a powerful tool for coaching individuals, teams, and even myself to generate experiments that can be tested to improve the current state. I also have a passion for using business automation technologies within the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Teams, Power Automate, Virtual Assistant, etc.) to solve process problems, automate communication pathways, and generate process efficiencies. With experience in both clinic and central business office operations, I truly understand the entire life cycle of a patient visit.
