About Ethan Rances

I am an efficient and ambitious social worker who values the service and privilege of working in a social service profession, embodying positive human connection and empathy. I leverage my unique work experiences and skills to be continuously aware of my identity as a person of color and its intersection with privilege as a male in an ever-changing world. I entered the field of social work through the inspiration of my mother. Her influence as a psychotherapist in the field as a practitioner who continuously advocates for her patients still inspires me to this day. Through her introduction to the profession, I have been able to explore social work using various clinical psychotherapeutic approaches, having experience providing short-term, more intensive care as a therapeutic case manager within an interdisciplinary team, as well as through more long-term care, currently working as a psychotherapeutic clinical intern. In my current role, I work in an outpatient mental health training clinic, adopting various modalities: CBT, Psychoanalysis, and Parts-Based therapies primarily. The intersection of these roles has allowed me to become accustomed to serving my patients with a level of adaptability and curiosity that encompasses what it means to work as a social worker. I plan to continue my career in social work by providing high-quality insight in a hospital setting, and I have a keen interest in working with an interdisciplinary team of motivated and empathic individuals.
