About Etsuko James

Helping people is my passion. For more than two decades I’ve served in a variety of roles helping youth, from serving underprivileged communities, to case management in foster care residential programs. I’ve also worked in grief counseling, couples counseling, and have served those struggling with addiction, depression, and anxiety. I’ve also enjoyed assisting a Fortune 500 Company by helping employees discover a healthy balance to their career and personal lives. Throughout all this, I’ve always felt a great sense of urgency to help strengthen families and the communities they live in. We need stronger marriages, better co-parenting, healthy family relationships, and access to more community resources. These are the things that have kept me motivated to continue serving, and what have also brought me to where I am today. As a marriage and family therapist in training, I’m here to assist you in bringing balance and harmony back into your marriage and family life. My approach is driven by evidence-based strategies and are tailored specifically to your needs and stated goals. No matter the stage in life you find yourself, or what hurdle you find yourself facing, I am here to help you navigate the road back to the full, rich life that was always intended for you. Whether you’re dealing with single parenthood, a troubled marriage or relationship, addiction, mental illness, divorce, coping with a blended family, or perhaps a challenging career change, there is a solution for you, and we can find it together. I’ve experienced some difficulties in my own life as well. Growing up bi-racial in Tokyo, Japan brought a lot of challenges throughout my life. Moving to the United States to attend college was even more difficult, but these experiences made me exactly why I am who I am today: I have love, passion and understanding for all races and generations. I’ve traveled throughout the U.S and overseas doing mission work or traveling alone to help those in need. I enjoy spending time with my husband who is also passionate about helping others, as well as our three children traveling the world and experiencing new adventures. I enjoy reading, working on puzzles, sun-bathing, and being as adventurous as I can be. When I’m not working, you can also find me leading children’s ministry at my church. I am a Pre-Clinical Fellow Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a Certified Grief Specialist, Certified Anger Management Specialist, and Certified PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator.
