About Euan Sutherland

Euan Sutherland is a Senior Managing Director and Head of FTI Consulting’s Tax practice in EMEA. Euan also leads the Real Estate industry group in EMEA, and is based in London. Euan’s focus is advising on real estate transactions, with over twenty one years’ experience in the sector. In recent years he has advised on a wide range of real estate investments and developments, and on a number of significant hotel transactions. Euan has predominately acted for private equity, family offices and international private capital, but also works for a number of banks, developers and institutional investors. Euan advises on a broad range of structures and asset classes, drawing on his experience in the real estate industry and his prior experience as a solicitor. This has included advising on JVs and fund formations (incl. management incentivisation), structuring of acquisitions and disposals, due diligence, and on-going tax compliance. Over the last 6 years at FTI, this has involved advising clients on £6bn of UK and European real estate transactions. Euan was previously at Deloitte, where he led a number of their key UK real estate tax relationships. Euan’s expertise also extends to stamp taxes, having co-led Deloitte’s Stamp Tax practice. Over the years he has worked with HM Treasury, HMRC and the Scottish Government on the drafting of new legislation, most recently on the introduction of capital gains tax for non-UK investors and the exemptions available to certain funds. Euan currently sits on the British Property Federation’s Tax Committee and on the Law Society’s Stamp Taxes Committee.
