About Eugene Ebersohn

I am currently employed as Assistant General Secretary at Sasbo, the Finance Trade Union operating in the South African Banking and Finance sectors, with 25+ years dedicated experience in my chosen profession. In this role I am responsible for facilitating all collective bargaining, resolving disputes and conflict, implementing fair human resources policies and procedures, and maintaining sound and professional relationships between employer bodies and the Trade Union. I serve on the legislated bodies responsible for enabling training in both the banking and insurance sectors, displaying tenacity and commitment to the continuous professional development of all employees within my areas of responsibility. NOTEWORTHY ACHIEVEMENTS In my current role as Assistant General Secretary for Sasbo, I have been recognised for the following achievements: • Significantly increasing Union membership across my employer portfolio, resulting in improved negotiating ability and revenue for the Union. • Successfully negotiating market-leading service conditions for employees, including home loan benefits, maternity leave, bonus payments, performance management systems, and retrenchment policies. • Negotiating flexible working hours that were well received by both employers and employees. • Innovating and negotiating an alternative dispute resolution mechanism. • Commissioning a video, to successfully communicate to our members the future world of work, and the effects of digitisation in the workplace, which can be viewed below.
