About Eugene Fulgence

Currently an English teacher/IELTS trainer in Tokyo, Japan - immersed in the culture that holds on to tradition while slowly ushering in changes that are, while being modern, refreshingly quirky for a foreigner(courteously addressed as a ‘gaikojin’). Obviously this small, headstrong, hardworking nation has won my heart over. Formerly an engineer of Computer Science with extensive experience working with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, VMWARE and INTUIT, to pick the big names from my profile. I strongly believe in the idea that you should love what you do and that success will follow - one of the 7-year olds I teach would disagree calling me naive and idealistic and she would not be wrong. well, not entirely - Although I love what I do, naivety has never really been part of my repertoire. Despite the pitiful remuneration that teachers around the world receive, I still look on the bright side that quite soon I will be lecturing at a University and subsequently venturing into my own business in Education one day. This admittedly will not make me rich but, as the saying goes - healthy mind, healthy body, healthy soul (terribly paraphrased here, obviously). One day as an old man of wisdom, I will look back on the skills that I have acquired over a lifetime and pass it on to kin and mankind(excuse the hubris please). And that defines success for me, irregardless of what the bottom line of my bank statement will be at that point. During my love affair with Japan, I have also gone on to become a fairly skilled photographer, a resilient grappler, terrible surfer and snowboarder.
