About Eugene McGrath

As an individual in this ever-evolving world, I have taken a vast interest in wanting to know more and more about it. I ranked in the military for 4 years, and focused much on phone operations. Yet, I also learned to trust my life with the men with whom I had great honor with which to serve, and I formed strong bonds that continue into this day. While serving my country and protecting the rights of others, I have also encouraged, within myself, a life of communications. Subsequently, I worked as a prison guard, a security guard at a widely known company, and was promoted to be the supervisor over other new guards at this company. I wrote reports on everything – from daily activities to performance reviews. I had memory of my company’s layout which I used to guide the men under me to help them fix and answer issues, to promote solutions and to better service our client. I have records which show my dedication, strong work ethic, leadership, and compassion, as well. As this world is ever evolving and changing, I, too, have been changing my life to one with a very keen interest in the technological world. I have studied and obtained an A.S. in Web Design from ECPI University. I am very familiar with Linux, vim, and basic terminal commands. My OS is also the client side version of RHEL, fedora, which I have used exclusively since version 22. I practice front end HTML, CSS, and am learning Javascript. I have even taken a hobby of disassembling and then reassembling parts of computers and any other equipment I have at home. freeCodeCamp has refreshed my interest and enhanced my coding again. My most recent challenge was wiping out the gui (by trying to force through some broken dependencies with -best -allowerasing) on my Fedora linux machine and figuring out how to bring back my desktop! Learned much about Xserver, grub, initrc, and will continue to learn. I strive always to learn and grow!
