About Eugene Procknow

Gene has over 35 years of experience in managing a professional services firm and serving on for profit and not for profit boards of directors. Early in his career at Deloitte, Gene focused on assisting clients implement innovative technologies with a concentration in the Telecommunications and Media Industries. Next, he gained increasing levels of executive level responsibility in Deloitte management culminating in leading the $2.2 billion East Region Consulting Unit through 2003. Moving to Washington, DC in 2004, Gene developed Deloitte’s business plan to re-enter the US Federal marketplace. With Deloitte board approval, Gene became CEO of the Federal Government Services unit and led its unprecedented growth through 2009 at which time he identified the potential to purchase BearingPoint’s $1 billion Public Services unit. Gene championed the idea, obtained Board of Director approval and managed the acquisition/integration team which consummated the deal in May 2009. To aid integration, Gene co-led the combined Federal practice for two years. For his efforts, Gene was named as one of the Top 25 Consultants by Consulting magazine in 2011. Deloitte again asked Gene to build something new –this time it was a Government Relations function. He developed and implemented a strategy to engage political stakeholders in Washington and in various state capitals. As part of this effort, he managed the development of Deloitte’s first Public Policy strategy. In 2011, Gene was elected to Deloitte’s 21 member Board of Directors and re-elected in 2014. As director, Gene chaired the Global Committee and co-chaired the Elected Leaders Succession Committee. In addition, he served on the Finance and Audit, Governance, Risk, Strategic Investment and Partner Earnings Committees. In June 2017, Gene retired from Deloitte to become a full time writer and historian of the American Revolution. He is a frequent speaker and often quoted on Revolutionary topics.
