About Eugene Sprague

I enjoyed practicing law for over 40 years. It was a constant learning experience, and I met many amazing and interesting people. In December 2016 I joined the Denver, Colorado office of Spencer Fane LLP where I was Of Counsel. My practice there - as it did at Berenbaum Weinshienk PC, a Denver firm where I was a shareholder from 1994 to December 2016 - spanned a wide array of commercial, real estate, insurance and nonprofit organization litigation in both state and federal courts. My litigation and appellate experience included cases involving business disputes, construction defects, construction contracts, real estate development, intellectual property, fiduciary duties, director and officer liability, insurance coverage and ERISA. I also represent self-insurance pools regarding regulatory compliance issues, coverage opinions, the drafting of insuring agreements, and reinsurance disputes. I have represented numerous financial institutions in Colorado in the negotiation of regulatory agreements, mergers and acquisitions, change of control, and commercial law issues arising from the daily operations of banks and credit unions. I am admitted to the Colorado State Bar and the Bars of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
