About Eugenio Trumpy

Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, is a geologist currently working as Senior Research Technologist at Institute of Geosciences and Earth Resources (IGG) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). His research focuses on the comprehension and assessment of geothermal resources, with a recent expansion into other georesurces such as Critical Raw Material (e.g, Lithium and Antimony) as well as the evaluation of the potential reservoirs for the Carbon Capture Mineralogical Sequestration. His work primarily involves developing methodologies for integrating geoscientific data to evaluate and estimate georesources, assessing their qualitative and quantitative potential. His expertise includes designing, managing, and implementing data infrastructures, particularly geospatial data infrastructures (SDI), as well as developing data analysis and integration systems, incorporating Machine Learning techniques and 3D geological models for georesource characterization. Since 2009 he is in charge of the coordination the CNR-IGG Geothermal Data Infrastructure, overseeing its implementation, data policies, and accessibility, while ensuring its integration with international infrastructures such as EPOS (European Plate Observing System) and the Global Atlas of Renewables by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). At the European level, he coordinates Subprogram 1: Assessment of Geothermal Resources within the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) – Joint Program on Geothermal Energy (JPGE), defining research priorities and objectives. Over the past 15 years, he has actively participated in national and European geothermal research projects, often leading CNR’s scientific contributions and overseeing specific project activities leading WPs and Tasks.
