Working efficiently is my passion. If I can find a way to make a task easier, quicker or better organized, I will find a way. At Family Chiropractic Centre, I created a spreadsheet with all the current motor vehicle accident claims and added conditional formatting to highlight important information, such as dates to follow-up, whether the claim had been approved yet, and amounts leftover to submit once they fell under a certain amount. The spreadsheet optimized motor vehicle accident claims at the clinic as being the one-spot information centre for all active claims and what follow-up tasks were still required. At the Environmental Health and Safety Department at the University of Guelph, I was recently tasked with submitting the University's PPE Inventory to the Government of Ontario. The process was originally given to a senior staff member who found it required 1.5 days to consolidate all the data from all nine departments into one spreadsheet for submission. Once I had taken over the task, I created a spreadsheet that helped consolidate all the data using formulas which resulted in finishing the submission within 3 hours. At the Health and Performance Centre at the University of Guelph, I found that each one of the 20 physicians had very different areas of expertise, booking preferences/times/costs, and requirements from their colleges. As a visual learner, I created a cheat sheet that encompassed all the important information for all the physicians on one page. This cheat sheet become a learning tool for all the new staff that worked with me and helped decrease the amount of errors. I had originally created the cheat sheet for my learning, but was happy that it was also able to help my fellow coworkers learn as well. I will always strive to find the best way to complete a task because I believe that there is always a better way.
