With 15+ years of experience in educational leadership, I am committed to spearheading strategic initiatives that bridge the achievement gap and create lasting opportunities for Los Angeles' most underserved communities. As a second-generation Latina, I revere learning and honor the incredible sacrifices my parents made to give me access to a high-caliber education. Growing up, I witnessed the struggles my community faced to access quality education and empowered choice, and it’s what inspired me to pursue this career. VISIONARY LEADERSHIP: My leadership is rooted in a desire to make lasting change. While instituting aspirational school goals, I further the organizational mission, vision, and values statement. I am committed to driving organizational change that promotes equity, dismantles systemic racism, and amplifies the voices of students and families from diverse backgrounds. INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP: My focus is on creating student-centered learning experiences, refining Common Core instruction, and preparing students for college and careers through differentiation. TALENT LEADERSHIP: To onboard, develop, and retain a high-performing and collaborative team, I distribute leadership and work closely with teachers and leaders through targeted coaching/ mentorship plans and professional development. CULTURAL LEADERSHIP: I leverage my deep understanding of urban school culture to foster a positive school environment, empower educators, and actively involve parents, families, and community stakeholders in supporting the holistic well-being of the community. SYSTEMS LEADERSHIP: I facilitate scalable growth and efficiency by continually building new and streamlining existing workflows. While doing so, I instate instructional technology to collect data points, analyze critical KPIs, and assess the effectiveness of academic programs. Selected Accomplishments:(1) Played a key role in founding a high-performing middle school in South Los Angeles and contributed 16 years of impactful service in both teaching and leadership roles.(2) Pioneered the implementation of a 4-day teaching week, boosting teacher planning time and fostering long-term sustainability, while elevating the student experience.(3) Coauthored a comprehensive DEI vision and collaborated with CRJE and No Place for Hate to drive initiatives promoting diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
