About Eva Koetsier

I am the Head of Research at the Pain Management Center of the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland, part of the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), a leading public healthcare provider in the canton of Ticino. I am also a Privat Dozent at the Faculty of Medicine of the Università della Svizzera italiana, where I teach and supervise students in the field of pain medicine. With over 13 years of experience as an anesthesiologist and interventional pain physician, I have a strong background in clinical practice, research, and education. I hold a Ph.D. in Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences from Maastricht University. My doctoral research, titled "Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation for Painful Polyneuropathy: Efficacy and Mechanism of Action," reflects my dedication to advancing our understanding of effective neuromodulation strategies. I have published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, conducted randomized controlled trials on neuromodulation, developed innovative treatments for spinal interventions, and the psychological factors influencing the outcome. Furthermore, I have a Master of Laws title from the University of Amsterdam, with a Specializatioin Health Law, which gives me a unique perspective on the legal and ethical aspects of pain management. I was also a Board Member of the Juridical Committee of the National Anesthesia Association of the Netherlands. My mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of pain medicine and to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic pain.
