About Eva van Moer

Eva Van Moer, PhD in Educational Sciences, teaches Community Service Learning at the University of Antwerp. Community Service Learning (CSL) is an educational approach that integrates community service with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Students participate in organized service activities that meet the communities needs while reflecting on their experiences, connecting them to the academic curriculum, and developing their personal and civic skills. Open to students from all disciplines, CSL addresses real community needs and aims to foster a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement among students. Through an interdisciplinary lens, diverse and complex societal issues are approached, creating synergy by looking at things together and differently. Eva serves as the contact person for students, organizations and lectures interested in participating in Community Service Learning or working with the service learning methodology. Since 2022, Eva coordinates the Science Shop of the University of Antwerp. The Science Shops brings together students, organizations and supervisors collaborating with non-profit groups in society by organizing research projects that provide answers to their questions. The goal of the Science Shop is to empower societal groups by engaging them in scientific research and providing students with socially relevant research experience. Before 2019, Eva Van Moer was a teacher (educator) in the academic teacher training programme and a researcher at the department Adult Education at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
