About Evan Barrett

I have always been interested in the environment, but it wasn't until I stood on top of a glacier that I realized where my passions lie: the polar regions. Whether I was packaging ice cores or fishing for Arctic char, I felt at home during my time in Greenland. Being surrounded by all of that beauty made the reality of climate change so much harder to digest. It was then that I decided that I wanted to work to understand the climate and hopefully save our beautiful Earth. There's a lot of different ways of fighting climate change that I am interested in exploring. Studying paleoclimate is a big interest to me. There are so many different tools for learning about the past climate and putting them together like a big puzzle is so intriguing. I am also interested in atmospheric chemistry and physics, along with geochemistry. I believe that learning more about the processes of our climate would help me understand how we can work on protecting it, and I am excited to explore these topics further. Geoengineering and carbon capture techniques are also fascinating, and I would love to learn more about how we can actively fight anthropogenic changes that have already occurred. As a whole, I am interested in learning more about the Earth and applying that knowledge to protect our planet for future generations.
