Background
About Evan Brick
My academic journey began at the University of Regina where I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate in Law & Society. To supplement my academic studies, I became involved in the Political Science and International Studies Students’ Association, first as a member-at-large then as Treasurer, in addition to pursuing research engagements. My research experience included assisting Dr. Arjun Tremblay and Dr. Josh Niocols with their project exploring the intricacies of accommodating diversity in liberal democracies and Dr. Gabriela Novotna and Dr. Randy Johner with their project concerning the development of a Métis-culture informed addictions treatment application. Politics became my calling during the 2019 Federal Election, where I volunteered for Ralph Goodale's re-election campaign. This experience spurred my civic engagement, propelling me into leadership roles within the Liberal Party. From serving as Vice-Chair to eventually becoming Chair of the Saskatchewan Young Liberals of Canada. Wanting to make a difference in my home province of Saskatchewan, I became involved with the Saskatchewan NDP. I took on roles as a Casual Constituency Assistant and had the opportunity to intern for MLA Carla Beck, where I focused on developing a policy to regulate gratuity in the service industry. As the University of Regina Campus Coordinator, I actively supported Carla Beck's successful leadership bid for the Saskatchewan NDP. The summer of 2022 marked a pivot in my journey as I joined the Liberal government in Ottawa. Initially an intern, I immersed myself in the complexities of governing. Evolving from an Operations Assistant to an Operations Advisor in the winter of 2024, my responsibilities expanded to include operational planning, stakeholder outreach, regional advising, and providing vital support to caucus members. In the fall of 2023, I embraced a new academic chapter in Ottawa. I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Political Management at Carleton University where I was fortunate to receive the Clayton H. Riddell Award in Political Management and the prestigious Ontario Graduate Scholarship.
