Currently, I work in the ERCOT wholesale power market on the Day Ahead planning and Energy scheduling desk in NRG's Commercial Operations group. The responsibilities of this role include: offering power and ancillary services from our generation fleet into the next day market; strategizing with traders on a generation plan given unit limitations, outages, and capabilities; Optimizing daily market awards across the generation; studying demand, weather, transmission impacts on the BES; and communicating with plant management, transmission companies, and other market counterparties. Additional tasks include trade reconciliation; scheduling renewable resource PPA energy; managing future resource and transmission outages, and managing gas nomination and flow projections during normal and constrained times. Previously, I assisted in managing the daily operation of generation resources (gas, coal, liquids) within PJM, ISONE, and NYISO markets for the Real Time market. This role required projecting and optimizing fuel nominations for specific generators. My role coordinates real time operation of the fleet in accordance with Commercial Operations strategies. I maintain NERC Reliability Coordinator and PJM Generator Operator certifications. I enjoy discussing and formulating daily, as well as forward-looking operational strategy of the generation fleet.
